The pear tree symbolizes Janie's voice through out the novel. Janie confuses happiness with romance. We the reader will not be going to discover her voice through marriage.
In the third chapter, it explains what has happened right after Nanny and Janie had the talk about love and marriage. Janie has married Logan and they are now living together. Janie eventually talks to Nanny and talks to her about her feelings about Logan. She tells Nanny that she is unhappy and that she does not love Logan. Nanny wishes she had comforting words for her, but instead she just said to suck it up and deal with it. When the conversation is over, Nanny askes God to watch over Janie. Nanny dies a month later. In the end of the chapter, Janie realizes that she is now alone, and finally a woman.

The beginning of the story probably talks about what will happen as the plot. It just talks about how people wait for their dreams to come true. In the radio show, they discuss Zora's life and how her style of books have made an impact in the world of literature.

Zora Neale Hurston
Zora Neale Hurston was born January 7, 1891 and died on January 28, 196o, which was all around the Harlem Renaissance's time. As an author, she had published four novels and over 50 short stories. One novel of which was called " Their Eyes Were Watching God", and was her most popular book in 1937. She was awarded the Anisfield-Wolf Book award in 1943, the Howard University’s Distinguished Alumni Award, and received an award for “education and human relations” at Bethune-Cookman College. For her writing, she would combine fiction and her knowledge of her culture. She was possibly the most influentional female author in the Harlem Renaissance era. Her books touched a lot of people back in that time, and will remain one of the best authors in the world.
3/2 assignment
There are probably a couple of reasons why you need to know about an author before you read their book. The point or looking that person up is to find out what they are about. It helps you find out what kind of personality they have, so you might understand how and why they write for a living. It can help you find out how they write books possibly.
